Job summary

Stantec is seeking Structural Bridge Engineers/Inspectors to advance design and inspection of bridges across Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. You’ll contribute to design calculations, plans, CAD drafting, and cost estimates while assisting project managers with provisions and specifications.

The role includes bridge inspections, report writing, and collaboration with transportation departments and municipalities. A Civil Engineering degree is required; E.I.T.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis; Master’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years of bridge inspection experience; bridge design experience a plus.
• PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year is highly preferred.
• Inspection experience including large complex bridges and fracture critical members is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and inspect bridges for DOTs and municipalities in MD, VA, DC, and possibly rail projects.
• Prepare design calculations, plans, CAD drafting, and cost estimates; support PM with provisions and specs.
• Review contractor submittals and respond to RFIs under guidance of senior engineer.
• Evaluate existing structures and develop load ratings; prepare reports and studies.
• Support roadway/site civil design tasks and participate in inspections.
