Job summary

The New York City Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges, is seeking a Civil Engineer III to manage bridge-related design, construction, and maintenance tasks. You will perform field visits, conduct structural analyses, prepare plans, and coordinate repair work with various units and contractors to uphold NYS DOT standards.

Responsibilities include reviewing and signing official documents, guiding subordinate engineers, and occasionally working evenings or weekends. A NY P.E.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of full-time civil engineering experience.
• New York State Professional Engineer license required and maintained.
• Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.
• One year of experience as a major contributor or project leader on a complex bridge project preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform field visits to identify deficient structural conditions and conduct analyses.
• Prepare design plans and determine scope of work; maintain repair records.
• Coordinate repair work with internal units, agencies, and contractors; ensure timely repairs.
• Review preliminary drawings for future maintainability and compliance with codes; sign and seal documents.
