Job summary

The New York City Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges, seeks a Civil Engineer 3 to manage design reviews, seismic analyses, and field inspections for major bridge projects. The role focuses on safety, compliance with AASHTO and NYSDOT standards, and coordination with Resident Engineer and contractors.

Applicants must hold a NYS Professional Engineer license and have extensive civil engineering experience; a master’s degree can substitute for part of the experience.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of full-time civil engineering experience.
• Valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License.
• Master’s degree in civil engineering may substitute for one year of experience.
• Eligible for higher Assignment Levels with recent project leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews complex city-let bridge and retaining wall projects and performs design calculations.
• Performs seismic analysis and evaluates load ratings.
• Conducts field inspections and coordinates with engineers, contractors, and consultants.
• Supervises subordinates in technical and administrative matters.
