Job summary

Apex Engineering Group, Inc. in Saint Cloud, MN seeks a Structural Bridge Engineer to join our team.

You will work as a key project member from the preliminary phase through design and construction, contributing to the development of structural project plans and specifications while coordinating with other engineers. You will report to the Lead Structural Bridge Engineer and attend in-person client and project meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil, structural) with 2+ years of bridge engineering experience.
• Ability to become a licensed engineer to practice structural engineering for bridge design within two years of hire preferred.
• Experience with transportation projects and public agencies in Minnesota and North Dakota preferred.
• Experience with in-service bridge inspection would be considered a bonus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Windows/Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Must be detail oriented, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license required or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform bridge engineering related calculations, analysis, and design tasks.
• Independently write technical specifications, reports, and other correspondence to audiences.
• Independently assemble plans for different agencies to meet standards.
• Perform independent checking of design work of other team members.
• Work with technicians to assemble complete and accurate engineering plans.
• Meet deadlines and complete projects within given time.
• Employ design standards related to the bridge industry.
• Assist with technical proposals for project pursuits with project managers and market leaders.
• Communicate effectively in project meetings, information meetings, and construction notifications.
• Think independently and make rational judgments.
• Follow company handbook and safety policies.
• Perform duties conscientiously, legally and ethically with attention to detail.
• Work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs with supervisor guidance.
• Travel/out-of-town stays may be required; overtime during submittal deadlines.
• Other duties as assigned.
