Join to apply for the Bridge Engineer role at GAI Consultants, Inc.

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Bridge Engineer to work within our Indiana Transportation Team. The successful candidate will be a dedicated individual who enjoys a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment. The candidate will leverage their experience to contribute to a variety of projects for INDOT, Local Municipalities, and County clients across Indiana. There will also be opportunities to collaborate with bridge design experts in Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia. Our Bridge Team values sharing expertise and professional growth. This position is based in Fishers, Indiana.

Job Duties:
  1. Design transportation structures in accordance with AASHTO and INDOT standards.
  2. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address project challenges and develop engineering solutions.
  3. Perform project work individually or as part of a team, adhering to budget and schedule constraints.
  4. Assist in preparing proposals and scope of work documents.
  5. Provide technical guidance to ensure quality service.
  6. Ensure compliance with quality standards and client requirements.
  7. Participate in site visits and outdoor work environments.
  8. Travel to client meetings and project sites as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s preferred.
  2. PE license in Indiana.
  3. Strong teamwork, communication, design, and problem-solving skills.
  4. Experience with INDOT standards and federally funded project deliverables.
  5. Experience working with local municipalities and counties.
  6. Proficiency with structural analysis and design software (e.g., LEAP, MDX, Midas).
  7. Proficiency in CADD; Microstation preferred.
  8. Experience or interest in bridge inspection.
  9. Minimum of 4 years of engineering or technical experience.
Additional Characteristics:
  • Broad knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Ability to evaluate and adapt standard techniques.
  • Knowledge of related disciplines and teamwork skills.
  • Effective project planning and management skills.
Experience and Education:
  • 4+ years of engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering.
  • PE license required.
Technical Responsibilities:
  • Design project components and analyze test data.
  • Prepare project plans and specifications.
Project Management:
  • Assign tasks, plan, and coordinate engineering work.
  • Prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist in proposals and funding efforts.
Management Responsibilities:
  • Work under guidance on complex problems.
  • Mentor junior staff and participate in meetings.
Communication Skills:
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
