Job summary

State of Colorado, CDOT, is seeking an entry-level Staff Bridge engineer to join the team in Colorado. You will assist with the analysis and design of highway bridges and other structures, including new construction, rehabilitation, and repair projects, applying CDOT and AASHTO design standards to produce plans and cost estimates.

Under supervision you will learn, gain field exposure, and develop skills in structural engineering analysis, detailing, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
• Transcripts showing name, school, and degree; foreign credentials require evaluation.
• Enrollment as Engineer-Intern may substitute for the degree.
• Official transcripts or foreign credential evaluations must be submitted.

Responsibilities

• Assist with analysis, design, and detailing of routine bridge elements.
• Learn engineering calculations for signs, signals, bridges using software.
• Assist in evaluating condition and capacity of existing structures.
• Prepare structural details, plans, quantities, specifications, sketches.
• Review designs for compliance with AASHTO and CDOT manuals.
• Attend project meetings and collect design information.
