Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is seeking an entry-level Engineer-In-Training to support the Staff Bridge team. You will assist in analysis and design of highway bridges and related structures, gaining hands-on experience with CDOT and AASHTO standards.

Responsibilities include data collection, calculations, and preparing design documents while working under professional supervision. Travel and field work are required as projects progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Transcripts must show degree conferred; official or unofficial acceptable.
• Engineer-Intern status with Colorado State Board may substitute for the degree.

Responsibilities

• Assist with analysis, design and detailing of routine bridge elements under supervision.
• Learn engineering calculations for signs, signals, bridges and other structures using software.
• Assist engineers in evaluating condition and capacity of structures for overloads or rehab.
• Prepare structural details, plans, quantities, specs, sketches, and design information.
• Review routine designs for compliance with AASHTO/CDOT standards and manuals.
• Assist with load capacity ratings for new and existing bridges.
• Attend project meetings and collect design/rating information.
