Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks skilled laborers to operate heavy equipment for roads and bridges across the State Highway System. You will handle excavators, backhoes, dozers, loaders, and large rollers, collaborating with traffic control and construction teams.

Requires at least 1 year of related work experience or equivalent, plus a valid driver’s license; CDL must be attained within 6 months. Physical work includes lifting up to 50 lbs and outdoor duties in variable weather.

Qualifications

• 1 year of related work experience or equivalent.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license required; CDL within 6 months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment such as excavator, backhoe, dozer, front end loader, and large rollers, for road/bridge work.
• Coordinate placement of traffic control devices in work zones per SCDOT manual.
• Signal crane operator during bridge construction/repair activities.
• Assist in emergency or inclement weather operations.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
