Job summary

Sanford Contractors, Inc. seeks an experienced Crane Operator for the Bridge Division to support critical lifts and bridge construction projects. The role requires proven crane operation experience, OSHA compliance, and the willingness to obtain necessary certifications if not already held.

You will work with a skilled crew, perform routine crane inspections, coordinate lifts with the foreman, and uphold safety, efficiency, and reliability on demanding sites.

Qualifications

• Crane operator certification preferred; willing to obtain certification if not certified.
• Experience operating cranes, preferably in bridge construction.
• Must meet OSHA requirements for crane operators, including medical certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain punctuality, dependability, and professionalism.
• Perform all work with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, cost control, and profitability.
• Demonstrate leadership through personal conduct and set a positive example for the crew.
• Operate cranes safely and responsibly, making the safety of the crew the highest priority.
• Conduct routine inspections of the crane, boom, rigging lines, and associated equipment to identify damage, maintenance needs, or potential safety concerns.
• Promptly communicate required maintenance and repairs to the foreman or superintendent.
• Regularly lubricate and maintain all designated grease points on the crane and boom.
• Maintain a clean and orderly machine, including the operator cab and engine compartment.
• Understand the location and proper use of crane load capacity charts and demonstrate the ability to interpret them accurately.
• Demonstrate proficiency in pile driving, concrete bucket operations, heavy lifting, and clamshell operations.
• Assist the superintendent with planning, coordinating, and executing large or complex lifts.
• Provide adequate advance notice of planned absences or time away from work to allow leadership to coordinate staffing and maintain project priorities.
• Maintain flexibility and willingness to work hours necessary to meet project demands.
