Job summary

The Salvation Army in Grandview, MO is seeking a part-time Brass Instructor to work with children and adults to plan and implement a music program, including theory, performance skills, music, and values.

Responsibilities include lesson planning, coordinating recitals, and helping to organize community events that promote the mission. Bachelor’s degree in music or related experience is preferred, with at least two years of music teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in music preferred, or extensive experience teaching music.
• Experience: A minimum of two years’ music experience working with children/adults. Performance experience is preferred.
• Certifications/Licenses: None
• Skills/Abilities: Proficiency in music theory and a primary instrument; strong leadership and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead music and arts programs; plan weekly music lessons and implement the curriculum.
• Coordinate with corps leadership; attend recitals and help prepare programs for year-end concert.
• Encourage participants to develop musical skills, self-esteem, and school/program pride.
• Organize performances and community activities to promote the mission.
• Support campers in summer programs; participate in divisional music camps and day camps.
