Position: Brand & Communication Strategist

Company: Tampa Electric Company

Location: Tampa, FL

Work Schedule: 8 Hr. X 5 Days

Position Concept

Reporting to the Manager of Brand and Strategic Communications, the Brand and Strategic Communication (BSC) Strategist is responsible for developing communication strategies and integrating them into Tampa Electric's broader marketing communications plan. This role focuses on marketing, customer, and stakeholder communications, supporting the implementation of targeted strategies to achieve the company's business goals.

The strategist collaborates with a team of professionals specializing in strategy, marketing, media analysis, corporate and crisis communication, ensuring alignment across employee, customer, and stakeholder channels. Key responsibilities include creating and executing communication plans, analyzing media and marketing effectiveness, and providing strategic insights.

Level 1: Brand & Communication Strategist
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and implementing marketing and stakeholder communication strategies within the integrated plan.
  • Partner with various teams (Government and Community Relations, Clean Energy, Digital Customer Experience) to coordinate communication efforts.
  • Develop strategies for proactive and reactive media and issues management, ensuring alignment with Tampa Electric's brand.
  • Create channel strategies with measurable KPIs, including marketing goals and sentiment analysis.
  • Advise on communication solutions, costs, and benefits, and develop executive speeches and presentations with appropriate messaging.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships across departments to support organizational objectives.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's in journalism, communications, PR, marketing, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum 6 years in a communications role, including media relations, digital marketing, branding, and crisis communication.

Skills: Strategic thinker, excellent communicator, project management, media relations, and marketing expertise. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Level 2: Senior Brand & Communication Strategist
Additional Responsibilities
  • Serve as a company spokesperson during crises or critical events, providing media advice and on-site support.
  • Lead strategic communications for complex issues, including drafting comprehensive plans and messaging.
  • Develop and implement public relations strategies to enhance brand positioning and media presence.
  • Maintain media relations expertise, anticipate challenges, and advise leadership proactively.
Additional Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications: Preferred: APR, SCMP, or equivalent; 15+ years in strategic communication may substitute.

Experience: Minimum 8 years in strategic communication roles.
