Job summary

Kalamazoo Public Library is offering a paid internship for students actively enrolled in an ALA-accredited Master of Library and Information Science program. The internship provides valuable experience across branch operations, youth and adult services, and community outreach at the Oshtemo Branch.

Under the Oshtemo Branch Manager, you will perform public service desk duties, assist with programming, reader's advisory, and collection maintenance, while contributing to a diverse, engaging library

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an ALA-accredited Master of Library and Information Science program.
• Basic knowledge of library operations.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patron service; assists in the location of materials, responses to reference and reader advisory questions; instructs patrons in the use of all library resources.
• Assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of innovative and engaging youth and adult programming.
• Assists in collection development and maintenance at branch locations.
• Represents KPL at community and outreach activities and events.
• Contributes to KPL's online presence as assigned.
