Job summary

Genesee District Library in Otisville, Michigan, seeks a Branch Librarian to manage a busy community library. You will oversee branch operations, supervise staff, assist patrons with questions, and collaborate with schools to promote collections and services.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science from an American Library Association-accredited program.
• Level 2 certification by the Library of Michigan within 90 days of hire.
• Strong proficiency with electronic databases, Microsoft Office applications, social networking sites and mobile technology.

Responsibilities

• Manage the operations of the branch and meet the needs of patrons.
• Supervise staff assigned to the branch and update them on new procedures.
• Answer reference questions and provide adequate information to patrons.
• Partner with area schools and agencies to promote collections and services.
• Build strong community bonds by working with community leaders.
• Handle patron complaints with good judgment.
• Select and order books for the branch.
• Market the library by developing programming.
• Prepare monthly reports for the Branch Operations Manager.
