Job summary

Independent Bank is seeking an Assistant Bank Manager in MI to support daily branch operations, coach staff, and drive exceptional client service. You’ll work closely with the Branch Manager to train and develop team members, manage service quality, and assist with product sales and banking operations.

The role requires leadership experience, strong communication skills, and knowledge of Independent Bank products.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 3+ years of banking experience preferred.
• 1+ year of direct or indirect leadership experience.
• Adhere to regulatory compliance and personnel policies (BSA, confidentiality, information security, ethics).
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
• Deep knowledge of Independent Bank products and services.
• Willingness to travel regionally to support branches.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily branch operations and support branch administration, policies, procedures, and audits.
• Develop branch staff through training, coaching, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
• Provide product and service training to clients and staff; assist with account migrations from other banks and loan support.
• Serve as primary back-up for teller line operations and point-of-contact for branch personnel and customers with questions.
• Support branch growth initiatives and promote Independent Bank in the community.
