Job summary

Security Bank in Springfield, IL, seeks a Mortgage and Consumer Lender to lead branch operations, supervise staff, and drive retail sales while maintaining compliance with banking regulations.

The role reports to the AVP Retail & Sales and Chief Lending Officer, delivering prompt customer service, expanding existing relationships, and developing new business through community engagement and effective referrals, ensuring confidentiality and security.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 3–5 years' experience in retail banking.
• Experience with professional communications vocally and through written format.
• Knowledge of duties performed at the branch level, including lending, new accounts, deposit products and services, and sales.
• Practical experience with basic hardware and software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise branch employees and assume subordinate duties when necessary.
• Conduct Customer Service Representative and Universal Banker training.
• Motivate employees, set expectations, monitor delegated activities, disciplines, and appraises performance and makes recommendations.
• Achieve retail sales goals both on the individual level and branch level.
• Ensure adequate staffing for efficient branch operation, including Saturday scheduling.
• Develop new business and expand existing business with the sale of deposit and lending products; prospects for new business through community and service activities and functions.
• Make referrals to other specialists when appropriate.
• Provide excellent external and internal customer service; advise and resolve customer issues; open new accounts; process estate asset closures and distributions.
• Monitor branch activity and Safe Deposit system; ensure branch safety, security, and compliance procedures; perform end of day balancing; maintain Regulation D compliance.
• Maintain compliance with audit standards and applicable laws and regulations.
• Make budgetary/staff/internal needs recommendations to supervisors.
• Fulfill duties of Mortgage and Consumer Lender, marketing and promoting financial products.
