Job summary

FVRLibraries is seeking an experienced Branch Manager for the Goldendale Community Library in a rural WA setting. The role leads staff, manages operations, and ensures excellent patron service while fostering strong community relationships.

Responsibilities include program planning, outreach, safety, and collaboration with IT and facilities to maintain facilities and collections. ALA-accredited MLS and supervisory experience are preferred requirements.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program or WA certification upon hire.
• Three to five years of related work experience, with customer service experience.
• Two to five years of supervisory experience, with experience managing people and/or projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee branch operations including staff, volunteers, circulation, and public services.
• Lead budgeting and staffing planning; monitor costs; participate in district strategic planning.
• Supervise staff; train, evaluate, address performance; hire staff; set customer-service standards.
• Build community relationships; liaison to Friends of the Library; align with library goals.
• Plan and conduct community outreach activities.
• Ensure safety of staff and patrons; coordinate with facilities and IT.
• Review collections; coordinate local collection management with district.
• Plan and implement programming for all ages; provide reference and reader’s advisory.
• Assist patrons with catalog searching, computer use, and personal devices.
