Job summary

Zoox is seeking a Firmware Validation Engineer - Brake & Steering in Foster City, CA to lead development and validation of control firmware for brake and steering systems. You will work with tier-one partners, manage validation plans, and track release schedules while ensuring safety and reliability.

The role requires a BS or MS in engineering with 6+ years in automotive or related industries, strong debugging skills across hardware, software, and firmware, and experience with actuator controls

Qualifications

• BS or MS in engineering or related field with 6+ years in automotive or related industry.
• Proven track record debugging hardware, software, and firmware issues.
• Experience with automotive actuator controls and validation methods.
• Knowledge of automotive program development, release processes, and long-term schedule planning.
• Experience with test methodologies and developing HIL assets; familiarity with CANalyzer, dSPACE, Polarion, Jira, and Confluence is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and validation of control firmware for brake and steering systems with tier-one partners.
• Manage system specifications, perform FMEA, and develop validation plans for reliability and safety.
• Oversee firmware release schedules, coordinate with suppliers, and maintain project timelines.
• Create diagnostic scripts and tools to support firmware validation and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Zoox to leverage AI, Mechatronics, CV, and Robotics expertise.
