Job summary

Ponaganset High School seeks a Boys Ice Hockey Assistant Coach to guide student-athletes toward skill development, teamwork, discipline, and academic achievement. The role emphasizes personal growth through athletic participation and competitive experience.

The coach will assist in developing players, monitor academics, coordinate practices with the athletic director, and uphold RI IL rules and district policies, serving as a positive role model in all interactions.

Qualifications

Experience coaching adolescent age students in competitive sports.
Meets all requirements adopted or revised by the State of Rhode Island, the Rhode Island Interscholastic League, or the Foster-Glocester Regional School District, including updated BCI checks.

Responsibilities

Coaches individual participants, small groups and teams, as appropriate, in the skills necessary for a successful experience.
Supervises individual team members and teams at all times.
Knows and implements most current rules, regulations and policies (RI IL, district policies, academic and personal development).
Works with school officials to monitor academic performance and stresses high academic performance and leadership role of student athletes.
Serves as a role model by showing respect to officials, competitors, visitors and observers under pressure.
Works with athletic director and other coaches scheduling practices and games.
Informs athletic director of facility, equipment, and uniform condition.
Communicates frequently with athletic director about team members and activities.
Notifies athletic director of actions or conditions that could affect safety.
Delegates coaching responsibilities to assistants and volunteers.
Performs other duties as defined by athletic director and principal.
