Job summary

The coach reports to the Athletic Director and Principal and will work after school and in the evenings to prepare a competitive program. The position requires experience coaching adolescents in competitive sports and adherence to RIIL and district requirements, with up-to-date BCI

Qualifications

• Experience coaching adolescent age students in competitive sports.
• Coaching application on file and up to date.
• Meets RIIL/state district requirements and Foster-Glocester policies.
• Updated National and State BCI Check required.
• Current & Valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certificate.
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course completed.
• NFHS Concussion in Sports Course (annual).
• NFHS Protecting Students From Abuse (annual).
• NFHS RI State Component Course (new coaches).
• NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest Course (annual).
• NFHS Implicit Bias Course (annual).
• NFHS Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention (annual).
• NFHS Heat Illness Prevention (annual).
• NFHS Title IX
• NFHS Sportsmanship
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants, small groups and teams in hockey skills.
• Supervises team members and teams at all times.
• Knows and enforces current RIIL and district rules and policies.
• Monitors academic performance and emphasizes student growth.
• Acts as a role model for players under stress.
• Coordinates practices and games with the athletic director and other coaches.
• Informs athletic director about facility, equipment and uniforms status.
• Communicates with athletic director about team issues.
• Notifies of safety concerns affecting students and adults.
• Delegates coaching duties to assistants.
• Performs other duties as defined by athletic director and principal.
