Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience coaching adolescent age students in competitive sports.
• Current & valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certificate.
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course completed.
• NFHS Concussion in Sports Course completed (Annually).
• NFHS Protecting Students From Abuse (Annually).
• NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest Course (Annually).
• NFHS Implicit Bias Course (Annually).
• NFHS Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention (Annually).
• NFHS Heat Illness Prevention (Annually).
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants, small groups and teams, as appropriate, in the skills necessary for a successful experience.
• Supervises individual team members and teams at all times.
• Knows and implements most current rules, regulations and policies including RI Interscholastic League Regulations and district policies.
• Works with school officials to monitor academic performance of student athletes and stress academic excellence.
• Acts as a role model for team members and maintains respect for officials and opponents.
• Schedules practices and games with the athletic director and other coaches.
• Informs athletic director about facility, equipment and uniform conditions.
• Communicates with athletic director about team issues and activities.
• Notifies athletic director of safety concerns.
• Delegates coaching responsibilities to assistants and volunteers.
• All other duties as defined by athletic director and principal.
