Job summary

The Sam Houston Hotel in Downtown Houston is seeking a Catering & Events Manager to plan, coordinate, and execute catered events for corporate meetings, social gatherings, weddings, and special occasions.

Based on on-site, full-time role, you will meet clients, prepare proposals and contracts, create timelines, manage layouts and banquet orders, and oversee communication between clients, sales, culinary, and operations to ensure flawless service.

Qualifications

• Experience in event planning and catering management for corporate and social events.
• Strong client relationships, sales, and negotiation to manage proposals and contracts.
• Operational skills in banquet coordination and on-site supervision.
• Excellent communication, organization, and time-management with tight timelines.
• Experience collaborating with culinary teams and vendors to design menus.
• Proficiency with event management tools, CRM, and MS Office.
• Hotel or hospitality experience, preferably boutique or historic property.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Education in hospitality management or business, or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute catered events.
