Job summary

IonQ, Inc. in Bothell, WA is seeking a Buyer Planner to join the Supply Chain team.

You will own the buy side of the material plan, converting demand into POs, driving on-time delivery, and maintaining accurate supply data in the ERP for cross-functional planning. The role requires 2+ years in purchasing/planning in manufacturing, a Bachelor’s in a related field, strong Excel skills, and experience with MRP/ERP systems such as NetSuite.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of purchasing, buying, or materials planning experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field or equivalent practical experience
• Working knowledge of MRP/ERP purchasing mechanics — planned orders, suggested order dates, lead time logic, exception messages
• Direct experience managing vendor relationships and holding suppliers to committed delivery dates
• Strong Excel skills — pivot tables, lookups, and the ability to build a working analysis without waiting on a report
• Ability to read and interpret BOMs and engineering drawings to buy the right part
• Organized and persistent; able to manage a large daily queue and communicate status clearly

Responsibilities

• Review the buyer workbench daily for new demand, pull-ins, quantity changes, and cancellations before release
• Release compressed lead time purchase requests first, prioritizing items past the Suggested Order Date
• Create Transfer Orders to connect supply and demand across locations and subsidiaries, checking other locations' on-hand before releasing a new PO
• Work the purchase request intake queue end to end: requests assigned, items needing vendor, quote requests, returned or rejected requests, and approved requests with no PO
• Return a status note to the requester on aging items in the queue
• Chase PO acknowledgments where a vendor has not confirmed price, quantity, and date
• Confirm delivery dates and update the PO with each new committed date
• Drive expedite and pull-in requests for material creating a shortage or compressed date
• Resolve three‑way match discrepancies and correct records rather than forcing invoices
• Establish and maintain lead times in NetSuite for items missing them
• Identify and load preferred vendors and vendor part numbers for items missing them
