Job summary

Customs and Border Protection is hiring a CBPO to serve as a federal law enforcement officer. The role offers base pay at GS-5, GS-7, or GS-9 levels with potential for advancement and a full benefits package.

Typical duties include enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws; inspecting individuals and conveyances; and screening entrants for admissibility. Selection includes relocation incentives at prioritised locations.

Qualifications

• Experience: 3 years general experience, 1 year at GS-4 or equivalent.
• Education Substitution: conferred bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
• Combination of Experience and Education: used to qualify based on resume and transcripts.
• GS-7: 1 year specialized experience incl. inspections and applying laws/regulations.
• GS-9: 1 year specialized experience or higher education substitutions.

Responsibilities

• Enforce customs, immigration, and agriculture laws/regulations.
• Ensure flow of legitimate trade and travel.
• Inspect individuals and conveyances.
• Determine admissibility of entrants into the United States.
• Prevent illegal entry and smuggling of contraband.
