Job summary

Customs and Border Protection seeks Customs and Border Protection Officers (CBPOs) at the GS-5, GS-7, or GS-9 grades. You will enforce border and immigration laws, inspect individuals and conveyances, and manage admissibility decisions across prioritized locations with incentive opportunities.

Base pay varies by grade, with overtime potential and a full federal benefits package. Selected candidates may receive recruitment incentives and will train at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center

Qualifications

• GS-5 requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work/education.
• GS-7 requires specialized experience or equivalent education.
• GS-9 requires higher-level experience or graduate education.
• Formal training at FLETC may be required after hire.

Responsibilities

• Enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture law and regulations.
• Enforcing the flow of legitimate trade and travel.
• Conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances.
• Determining the admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States.
• Preventing illegal entry and smuggling of contraband.
