Job summary

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make decisions and stay calm under stress.
• Ability to learn regulations, methods, and techniques through training and on-the-job instruction.
• Ability to gather concise information through questioning, observation, and examination of documents and records.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers by maintaining surveillance from covert positions including night operations.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband.
• Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using government assets to support USBP mission.
