Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) at multiple duty locations. The role offers strong base pay, comprehensive federal benefits, and strong job stability within the Federal Law Enforcement Officer career track.

Newly appointed BPAs may receive recruitment incentives up to $20,000 and additional retention incentives up to $30,000 over three years. Eligibility depends on assignment location and academy completion.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating decision-making and composure in stressful situations.
• Bachelor's degree or completion of a four-year course of study, or a combination of education and experience.
• Specialized experience may be substituted by education or a combination of experience and education.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration or customs violations and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using varied assets.
