Newly appointed BPAs may receive up to $20,000 recruitment incentive, with an additional up to $30,000 retention incentive over three years. Training and standard benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate knowledge of immigration and nationality law.
• Knowledge of Use of Force Policy and firearms policy.
• Criminal law and procedure knowledge.
• Ability to use physical techniques for self-defense and control.
• Firearms proficiency and safety.
• Basic operation of motor vehicles in law enforcement contexts.

Responsibilities

• Detect individuals suspected of immigration or customs violations and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend unlawful entrants and smugglers near borders using surveillance assets.
• Interpret tracks, evidence, and indicators of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform patrols and checks across farms, buildings, traffic, cities and transportation nodes.
• Patrol borders and waterways using diverse government assets to fulfill CBP mission.
