Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) at multiple grade levels, offering competitive base pay and broad federal benefits.

The roles involve enforcing immigration and customs laws, patrolling borders, and using diverse assets including vehicles, horses, and watercraft. In addition to base pay, CBP provides recruitment incentives up to $20,000 and potential retention incentives up to $30,000.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and handle stressful situations; training and/or instruction provide needed regulatory knowledge.
• A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• A combination of general work experience and college education may be substituted as indicated by the resume.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-vision equipment.
• Interpreting tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using various assets to accomplish the USBP Mission.
