U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) in entry to mid-level tiers across the United States.

The position offers base pay, federal benefits, and recruitment/retention incentives, with duty locations nationwide and potential for advancement to higher grades. The BPA role involves enforcing immigration and customs laws, conducting inspections, and patrolling borders and coastal areas using a range of assets.

Qualifications

• Experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations.
• Ability to learn regulations, methods, and techniques through training and on-the-job instruction.
• Ability to gather concise information through questioning, observation, and document review.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of immigration and customs law violations and inspecting documents.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-vision equipment.
• Interpreting tracks and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing checks of farms, buildings, traffic, and transportation.
• Patrolling borders and waterways using various government assets to fulfill CBP mission.
