Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks a Border Patrol Agent (BPA) to join the Federal Law Enforcement Officer family.

This full-time role offers competitive base pay, comprehensive benefits, and robust recruitment/retention incentives, with assignments across various duty locations. The BPA role requires the ability to detect and deter unlawful entries, perform thorough inspections, and operate under demanding conditions with various assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree
• One year of general work experience or equivalent; education substitution allowed for GL-5/GL-7 levels
• Combination of experience and education may qualify you for higher grades (GL-9/GS-11)

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws; inspect documents and possessions
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance
• Interpret tracks, marks, and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband
• Perform farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets
