Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) invites applications for Border Patrol Agent (BPA). CBP is a large federal law enforcement agency within DHS, protecting the United States at its borders.

The BPA role is full-time with competitive base pay, benefits, and recruitment/retention incentives. Typical duties include border patrol, inspecting documents, questioning individuals, and preventing illegal entry, across multiple duty locations.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree.
• Combination of experience and education may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and various assets.
• Interpret tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Patrol borders and coastal areas using vehicles, horses, vessels, and other assets to fulfill the USBP mission.
