Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is actively recruiting Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to join a large federal law enforcement workforce. The role offers entry and mid-level career tracks with base pay plus a full benefits package including health, dental, and a Thrift Savings Plan.

Incentives are available for recruitment and retention, with duty locations across the United States. Typical duties include border surveillance, questioning individuals, inspecting documents, and making arrests

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience that demonstrates ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and stay calm in stressful situations.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field from an accredited college or university.
• Combination of General Experience and Education may be substituted for a degree.

Responsibilities

• Detect individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near the borders using surveillance and various assets.
• Interpret tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband; perform various checks and patrol duties.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels, and other equipment to fulfill the USBP mission.
