Job summary

Customs and Border Protection seeks Border Patrol Agents (BPA) for full-time, entry to mid-level positions across U.S. duty locations. Candidates may qualify through education or prior public safety experience.

Selection includes academy training and federal benefits. Incentives include up to $20,000 recruitment, up to $30,000 retention, and an additional $10,000 for prioritized locations. Base pay ranges from $51,632 to $124,717 per year, with comprehensive health, retirement, and leave

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include U.S. citizenship and residency rules, plus eligibility for GL-5/GL-7/GL-9/GS-11 levels.
• Education or combination of education and experience acceptable for entry or mid levels.
• Formal training at the Border Patrol Academy will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented individuals and smugglers near borders using surveillance.
• Interpret tracks and evidence of illegal entry and conduct patrols of designated areas.
• Perform checks of farms, buildings, traffic, and transportation; patrol borders and waterways.
