Qualifications

• Experience: One year of general work experience demonstrating decision making and composure in stressful situations; OR
• Education Substitution: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; OR
• Combination of Experience and Education: resume and transcripts evaluated with application.
• GL-9/GS-11 level can require advanced qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of immigration and customs violations.
• Inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using various assets.
• Interpreting tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Patrolling borders and coastal waterways with vehicles, horses, vessels, and other assets.
