Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (Experienced GL-9 / GS-11) for full-time careers across multiple duty locations.

Prior law enforcement or military police experience may qualify for higher graded opportunities, with base pay, locality pay, benefits, and sign-on/retention incentives. Agents complete six months of intensive training at the Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, NM, with Spanish proficiency required.

Qualifications

• Citizenship: U.S. citizen required.
• Residency: primary U.S. residency in 3 of last 5 years.
• Age: referred before 40th birthday; veterans’ preference rules apply.
• Training: BPA Academy in Artesia, NM for ~6 months; Spanish proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations.
• Perform surveillance and inspections to determine citizenship or violations.
• Protect borders using various assets and conduct inspections and checks.
• Engage in patrols and enforce laws at assigned duty locations.
• Prepare investigative reports and support court actions.
