Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring immediately for full-time, career Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) opportunities as Border Patrol Agents. Duty locations may include the Southwest Border and prioritized sites across the country, with incentives up to $60,000 for new agents.

Base pay ranges from GL-9/GS-11, with locality pay and up to 25% overtime. Training at the Border Patrol Academy is provided, with possible relocation and a robust benefits package including health insurance

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience at GL-9 or equivalent.
• Experience in apprehending violators and performing searches.
• Proficient in firearms, preparing investigative reports, and handling court orders.
• No education substitutions for the GL-9 or GS-11 grade levels.
• Citizen and residency requirements apply.
• Academy training includes Spanish language instruction.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violations and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend aliens and smugglers near borders.
• Interpret tracks and evidence of illegal entry.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using various assets.
