Qualifications

• GL-9 requires one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level.
• GS-11 requires one year of specialized experience with authority to enforce laws.
• Border Patrol Agents may qualify for higher grades with relevant LE experience.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of violations and inspect documents.
• Apprehend violators and maintain surveillance using a variety of assets.
• Interpret physical evidence, perform checks, and patrol borders and waterways.
• Make arrests, use firearms when necessary, and prepare investigative reports.
• Complete training at the Border Patrol Academy and maintain language skills.
