Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection invites experienced Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to join as full-time professionals at multiple duty locations, including Alpine.

The role offers GL‑9/GS‑11 grade levels with strong base pay, locality pay, and significant incentives for sign-on and retention. Recruitment incentives up to $20,000 and retention incentives up to $40,000 are available, with overtime of up to 25%.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level for GL-9: handling detainees, firearms, and evidence; knowledge of investigative processes.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level for GS-11: using intelligence to track operations and leading investigations.

Responsibilities

• Detect suspects of immigration and customs violations and inspect documentation to determine status.
• Prevent and apprehend aliens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-operations tools.
• Interpret tracks and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrol the international boundary and coastal areas using vehicles, horses, vessels, and ATVs.
