Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring an experienced Border Patrol Agent (BPA) at GL-9/GS-11 levels with new hire sign-on and retention incentives. The position offers base pay, locality pay, and overtime with a recruitment incentive up to $20,000 and retention incentive up to $40,000.

Duty locations include multiple sectors across the U.S. and relocation may be required. Eligible candidates bring prior law enforcement experience and will attend the Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, NM.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.
• Proficient use of firearms, preparing investigative reports, and gathering evidence for criminal cases.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets.
• Duties include conducting searches and asserting authority as required.
