Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) at experienced grades GL‑9 / GS‑11. Qualifications

• GL‑9: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, performing duties such as physical searches, apprehending violators, and preparing investigative reports.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws, and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending aliens and smugglers near borders using a variety of assets and surveillance.
• Interpreting tracks and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrolling borders and waterways with vehicles, horses, vessels, and off‑road equipment.
