Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents in a full-time capacity across entry and mid-level positions. Base pay plus federal benefits, with recruitment and retention incentives up to $50,000 are offered.

Duties include border surveillance, document screening, and law enforcement actions to protect the United States. Selected candidates may be assigned to prioritized locations and progress through GL-5, GL-7, GL-9 or GS-11 with potential for GS-12 advancement.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience showing ability to take charge and make sound decisions under stress.
• Bachelor's degree or four-year course of study from an accredited institution.
• Combination of experience and education may qualify for higher grades.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration/ Customs violations.
• Inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Perform various checks (farm, building, traffic, city patrols) as part of routine duties.
• Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using government assets.
• Contribute to the USBP mission across multiple duty locations.
