Qualifications

• General work experience that demonstrates ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and remain composed in stressful situations.
• Specialized work experience showing skills for law enforcement duties and safety.
• Combination of experience and education may qualify at higher grades.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration or customs laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-vision equipment.
• Interpreting tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Carrying out farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrolling borders and waterways using various assets to fulfill CBP mission.
