Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) nationwide for full-time entry and mid-level positions.

BPAs protect the United States by enforcing immigration and customs laws while leveraging a range of assets to perform duties along borders and coastal areas. Typical assignments include questioning individuals, inspecting documents, patrolling, and using equipment to deter illegal entry.

Qualifications

• Experience or education eligible for GL-5/GL-7/GL-9/GS-11 levels in federal law enforcement.
• Combination of experience and education accepted; education substitution allowed.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance.
• Interpreting tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using a variety of assets.
