Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) in a full-time, entry- and mid-level capacity. The role supports enforcing immigration and customs laws with diverse patrol duties and opportunity for career advancement.

Position includes robust federal benefits and a recruitment incentive program. Base pay varies by grade ($51,632–$124,717 annually) with potential retention incentives. Priority locations include several duty stations across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or completed four-year course of study from an accredited college or university.
• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations.
• Combination of general work experience and education accepted for qualification.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
• Inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Pursue and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
• Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using government assets.
