Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) invites applicants for Border Patrol Agent (BPA) positions. CBP is a large federal law enforcement agency offering full-time, entry and mid-level opportunities with strong base pay and benefits.

Recruitment and retention incentives up to $20,000, plus potential up to $30,000 additional incentives may be available. Selected BPAs will be positioned at various duty locations across the United States, with training at the Border Patrol Academy and eligibility

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge and make sound decisions in stressful situations.
• A bachelor’s degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field from an accredited college or university.
• Combination of general work experience and college education may qualify for higher grades.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violations and inspecting documents to determine citizenship.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented individuals near borders using surveillance and night operations.
• Interpreting tracks and evidence of illegal entry and contraband.
• Patrolling borders and coastal waterways using various government assets.
