Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks Border Patrol Agents (BPA). With over 69,000 employees, CBP safeguards the United States by preventing terrorists and their weapons from entering the country while facilitating lawful travel and trade.

This is a full-time, entry- and mid-level career opportunity with competitive base pay and benefits. Recruitment and retention incentives of up to $30,000 (and an additional $10,000 for prioritized locations) are available.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or a combination of experience and education.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near borders using surveillance and night-vision equipment.
• Interpret tracks, marks and other evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols and transportation checks.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels and other assets to fulfill the USBP mission.
