Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) at full‑time, entry and mid‑level career levels. Positions may qualify based on education or prior general or public safety experience.

In addition to base pay, CBP offers benefits, job stability, and incentives for recruitment and retention. Typical duties include border surveillance, questioning and inspecting travelers, and preventing illegal entry.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience or equivalent education
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree
• Combination of general work experience AND successfully completed college education

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-operations tools
• Interpreting tracks, marks, and evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband
• Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks
• Patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using government assets to fulfill the USBP mission
