Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) across multiple entry and mid-level grades.

The role focuses on enforcing immigration and customs laws and protecting the United States at the border with comprehensive federal benefits and potential recruitment incentives. BPAs perform inspections, surveillance, and patrols across interior and border locations, with duty locations listed and eligibility for incentives based on location and academy completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study from an accredited college or university
• One year of general work experience in public safety, security, military police or law enforcement
• Combination of general work experience and education may qualify for higher grades
• Knowledge of firearms and law enforcement procedures is required for higher levels

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws
• Inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using various assets
