Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) at full-time, entry and mid-level grades with education or public safety experience qualifying. Eligible for robust federal benefits, leave, and Thrift Savings Plan, plus recruitment and retention incentives.

Positions include assignments across multiple duty locations in the United States. Selected applicants will receive training at the Border Patrol Academy and may qualify for additional incentives upon assignment

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating leadership, decision-making under stress, and the ability to gather information from documents and interviews.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study from an accredited college or university; OR
• Combination of general work experience and education as submitted with your application.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration or customs violations and inspect documents to determine eligibility or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-vision equipment.
• Interpret tracks, marks and other evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks as part of patrol duties.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using diverse assets to fulfill CBP mission.
