U.S. Customs and Border Protection is recruiting Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) to serve in a range of entry and mid-level positions nationwide. The BPA role involves enforcing immigration and customs laws, conducting document inspections, and maintaining border security using a variety of assets and technologies.

Training and benefits accompany a competitive federal package. Multiple duty locations exist with potential incentives and progression from GL-5 to GS-12 levels.

Formación

• Knowledge of immigration and nationality law and related statutes.
• Familiarity with use-of-force policies and firearms qualifications.
• Understanding of criminal law and procedure as it relates to enforcement.
• Experience or training with firearms and incident reporting is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration or customs violations and inspect documents to determine admissibility.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented individuals and smugglers near borders using surveillance and available assets.
• Interpret tracks, evidence, and indicators of illegal entry or contraband.
• Conduct checks of farms, buildings, traffic, and transportation; patrol assigned areas.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various government assets.
